The way things go 'round here
I'm a big advocate of Wheaton's Law. Unfortunately, not everyone plays by this rule, so I've found it helpful to have the big stuff written down. I reserve the right to change or add to my policies as the need arises.
In my desire to be effective and fair to all clients, the following policies are honored:
Scheduling
Sessions are by appointment only and may be made by emailing ironandsilkbmt AT gmail.com or calling/texting 970-439-1782 [texting recommended for best response]. Appointments scheduled for holidays or outside normal business hours are subject to an added convenience fee.
Cancellations and no-shows
Unless otherwise specified, 24 hour advance notice is required when canceling or rescheduling an appointment. Anyone who either forgets or consciously chooses to forgo their appointment for whatever reason will be considered a “no-show.” Treatment time shortened at the client's request qualifies as a rescheduled appointment; the client is still responsible for the full amount of time. If you are unable to give 24 hours advance notice, you will be charged the full amount of your treatment. This amount must be paid prior to your next scheduled appointment or within 14 days of the missed session, whichever comes first. If a gift certificate, coupon, or pre-paid session was to be used, it will be voided as payment.
Late arrivals
If you arrive late, your appointment may be shortened in order to accommodate others whose appointments follow yours. Depending upon how late you arrive, we will then determine if there is enough time remaining to start a session. Regardless of the length of the treatment actually given, if any, you will be responsible for the full duration of your appointment. Out of respect and consideration to your therapist and other clients, please plan accordingly and be on time.
Substitutions
If you cannot make it to a session and it is within the 24 hour cancellation period, you are welcome to send someone to keep your appointment for you. If your scheduled session is eligible for any discounts, they will not carry over to your stand-in.
Outcalls
It is the client's responsibility to ensure that a clean, safe, accessible environment with enough space to work in is provided for the session. The bare minimum required is 6' x 8'. IRON + SILK reserves the right to cancel the session if these conditions are not met; the client is still responsible for payment in entirety. Locations outside Steamboat city limits may incur an extra travel fee.
Payment options
We accept payment by cash, check, or credit card, due upon completion of service unless other arrangements have been made prior to the start of the session. (Please note: No first-borns accepted. No seconds, thirds, or fourths, either.) As of June 1st, 2019, a credit card number will be taken in order to secure the appointment. There is a $30 NSF fee charged on all returned checks.
Gift certificates and packages
Gift certificates are non-refundable, fully transferable, and expire 5 years from date of purchase. Gift vouchers donated for auction or other promotional use may have shorter expiration dates. If our rates change between the time a gift certificate is purchased and the time it is redeemed, the consumer is responsible for the difference in price. Unless otherwise noted, packages are not refundable and may be shared between multiple people. The promotional price for gift certificates is good for one year; any unused sessions after that date will become a pro-rated credit. Other restrictions may apply.
Non-payment of account
After 14 days, any outstanding accounts will be subject to a monthly interest charge. If legal action is pursued in order to obtain payment, the client will be responsible for all legal and court fees; in addition, small claims court in Colorado allows a petitioner to seek up to three times the amount of the original fee. Alternatively, outstanding accounts may be turned over to a collections agency.
Scope of practice
IRON + SILK offers strictly therapeutic and relaxing massage. Sexual innuendos or requests (either verbal or nonverbal) from clients will not be tolerated. Upon such occasion, we reserve the right to end the session early, and the client will owe for the entire amount of the scheduled appointment. (So just don't do it, okay? And yes, we've heard all the jokes.)
IRON + SILK performs manipulation of soft tissue to enhance or restore the general health and well-being of the recipient. Benefits may include: enhanced relaxation, reduction of pain caused by muscle tension, increased range of motion, improved circulation, a positive experience of touch, and overall improved feelings of health and vitality. Techniques may also encompass the use of active and passive stretching within normal limits, hydrotherapy, geothermal massage, salt or herbal preparations, hot or cold packs, and showers. IRON + SILK does not diagnose or treat illness or disease, prescribe medications, or perform spinal manipulations. IRON + SILK reserves the right to end any session for any reason, including inappropriate language or suspected intoxication; the client is still responsible for payment in entirety.
