Empower Yourself

After more than 20 years of performing award-winning bodywork, I find that I can help more people by sharing my knowledge than my hands.

I listen to people about what's going in their body -- from aches and pains to optimizing athletic performance -- and help put together a plan of attack. I use anatomy-based critical thinking to form my strategies, and from there, educate my clients on the reasoning behind it.

I can recommend specific muscles to have your massage therapist work, suggest alternative rehabilitation techniques, and empower you with the confidence and education to take care of your body on your own as much as possible -- and to know what questions to ask when you can't.

Strength. Movement. Balance. Breath.

The human body is an amazing, complex piece of engineering. Systems overlap and interplay, affecting one another on a global scale. My expertise lies within the musculoskeletal system -- and, to some degree, its interaction with the nervous system.

I primarily work with the four foundational elements of the IRON + SILK matrix:

Strength
Movement
Balance
Breath

Strength and movement are diametrically opposed; there is an inverse relationship between stability and mobility. We are all striving for balance, but it in the end, it all comes back to the breath.

Geek Out With Me

I like to geek out. Hard.

Like, my 4am insomnia rabbit-holes involve things like biomechanics, vagal nerve stimulation, and the mammalian dive reflex. By nature, I am a creative problem-solver, and having a diverse range of overlapping interests serves this aspect well (and by extension, my clients).

Like any good geek, I love sharing and learning in return. I am great at working with neurospicy folks, but I also do well with neurotypicals. (Professionally, I spent several years doing focused neuroplasticity work with people who had a variety of learning disabilities and common comorbidities such as autism and ADHD. See also: most of my friends.)

So if you're dealing with some sort of movement or soft-tissue challenge and want to learn how to fix it, why to fix it that way, and how to maintain your body going forward, well . . . this could be a match made in heaven.

What does a typical session look like?

I offer a complimentary get-to-know-you Zoom session to ensure that we're a good fit and that I feel confident in my ability to help you. If I feel I'm in over my head, I'm happy to make recommendations or give referrals for other qualified professionals that may be better suited to your situation.

Once we've established our mutual desire to work together, I conduct all of my sessions over Zoom; clients will receive a copy of the recording afterwards. I may ask clients to demonstrate symptomatic movements or positions, then we work together to problem-solve what the most likely root cause is and how to rectify it. I will often go over the anatomy of the area of concern, deconstruct the path that led to the current situation, and make best-guess recommendations based upon my years of experience.

Some clients have issues that resolve after a single session; for others, multiple sessions may be needed. Sessions typically average 60 minutes and cost $185.
